How to art, pictures & mirrors.
Being prepared for packing up your home, packing your furniture and all of your belongings is 80% of the work done. So, like every boy scout,
BE PREPARED!
To Pack-up china, glass and delicate ornaments you'll need:
- Packing Tape.
- Small and medium size boxes (for small art objects),
- Cardboard to separate out sections of the box.
- Polystyrene pellets or cheap popcorn (bio degradeable) and bubble wrap.
- Newspaper or other cheap large sheet paper - no print is best (no ink to come off).
- Marker pen.
- A firm surface to pack on.
TIP: Packing is back braking work so make sure that you have comfortable shoes on, as you may be standing for long periods of time.
Packing up pictures and mirrors:
- Using a low tack wide masking tape put an 'X' across the glass or mirror front of large pictures and mirrors. This will help to keep the glass in place should any accidents happen.
- Protect any corners or exposed mouldings, such as finials on the top of mirrors, with newspaper, bubble wrap or even suitable sized rags.
- Wrap smaller prints in newspaper then fix with wrapping tape.
- Larger items may need to be wrapped in bubble wrap and even protected with cardboard as well.
- Mark the front & back 'Fragile - Glass'.

Packing up small artwork and sculptures:
- You will need to find boxes that are about a third larger in size to the item you are wrapping.
- Wrap your item with bubble wrap, sheeting or plenty of newspaper.
- Fill the box with a good amount of popcorn or pellets.
- Nestle the item so that it is approximately in the centre of the box - nothing touching the sides of the box.
- Fill up with popcorn or pellets.
- Put a lid on the box and mark ' Fragile - Artwork'.
