Home Staging Case StudiesThe Kitchen

This room was the first that the viewer would enter once they were inside the house.
It was really important to make this room as welcoming and desirable as possible. Before the work the kitchen was naked of any everyday items, giving it a soulessness. The room had very little colour which made it feel cold and clinical. For such a large room, there was nowhere to sit and eat, or perhaps relax while you prepared a meal. I needed to inject some warmth and excitement into this room, as well as create a usable table & seating area. First I reunited the fridge with the main part of the kitchen, freeing up space at the far end of the room to allow a table and extra seating to be positioned. Installing a fun 'egg' shaped table with low stools and making some simple foam cushions covered with rich fabric created a really fun space to sit and chat with friends, enjoy a morning coffee or just chill out and enjoy the space of the room. Next to introduce some excitement and colour I took three large canvasses and made some simple artwork using rich coloured emulsion paints that complimented the fabric I had bought to create the simple pelmets for the windows. Lastly I added a brightly striped rug to add some softness underfoot.
Using red and yellow as my accent colours I dressed the kitchen with accessories finding use for all those funny nooks and crannies that were a feature of this kitchen.
